The challenge for Round 3 in CBR's "Project CBRunways'" [link]
age=5 contest was to redesign Dazzler in a costume that is modern, useful for the stage and for superheroing....
As you see I decided to "bling" her out....(smile)
The Signature Outfit
Ali's coat is designed especially for her. She is wearing a high collar diamond encrusted lightweight suede and leather "sexy belly coat" that can zip from her mid chest region on up. The coat is also coated with kevlar as well as unstable molecules.(with thanks to the Reed Richards and Starks Tech Division) The diamonds on her suit help to reflect and refract her light powers as she uses them in shows to put on light shows, and as lasers to fight against villians and such. The diamonds in her collars are shaped in the classic "Jim Lee" X, which connects her to her X-Men roots. The X'es are also built in mini microphones and amplifiers which of course helps power her light shows. ( Diamond X Microphones Designed by Forge ) The yellow design on the jacket is a stylized version of her classic starburst. The black on yellow color is a break from the traditional silver and white, or the blue and yellow. (I did almost go with blue and yellow). As I thought about it some more, the black on yellow also pays homage to the X-Men in a classic way as well. (The basic uniform for the X-Men is gold and black.)
Her shirt is a see through "fishnet" short sleeved belly shirt.
Her pants are Donna Karen black jeans . Her boots are Prada black leather with a mid low heel. Got to look stylish while saving the world and being on stage.
The Accessories
Theme: Starburst.
Her earrings (can only see one due to her hairstyle), is a stylized platinum and diamond starburst hoop earrings. Her belt also has a stylized starburst with a D in it (see above sketches, as the flare is covering some of it)and is encrusted with round diamonds. Ali is also wearing a diamond choker collar shaped as a bigger starburst.
She also wears a plantium and diamond bracelet.
Her hair cut is cropped short, with it falling to one side. I decided to go with the blondish with orange highlight look as it complimented her costume/outfit.
So that's that. It is what it is.

HA! and that's why you were in teh top three of my contest, brotha. Great design. The jewelry is dope on her---almost a play on her name, as if to say, "I dazzle even when i'm NOT using my powers!
